Lance _ Aquatic-Air Ship

The Varan Elves' contribution to flying vessels on the world of Arillus is known as the Lance. It is a thin, swift vessel, a bit more acrobatic, but with a shorter top end speed than the Toolian Elves' "Katana" vessel.

The Lance is an armed cruiser, whose length of the bow is ported, possessing several rapid fire railguns. However, its best assault often comes from the lethal accuracy of the Elves on board, for the Vara are unparalleled archers, who wield the most powerful longbows across the lands.

The Lance's rudder-engines are primarily used for maneuvering, and not for propulsion, hence the sails. But, being Elves, the Vara have adapted magick to aid in the ship's propulsion. Sails have been subject to special creation often imbued with arcane elemental amplification spells and runes and designs, that the wind, often no more than a breeze which is picked up can be many times more powerful than it would be naturally. Of course, at higher elevations, this effect is dramatically increased. The top speeds listed are of course, without the aide of magickally enhanced sails. With such sails, travel can be a bit frightening to the virgin-flyer and can often approach astounding speeds. Bouyancy/levitation/floatation is the product of a chemical reaction between two gases unique to Arillus. The waste is ejected in small puffs of coalesced dust and the result is hyper-lite gas similar to hydrogen.
